Bamboo charcoal has excellent absorption properties. You can place it in any room in your house to help keep the air fresh and clean.
This bamboo charcoal wind chime makes a very pretty sound when it is blown by the wind. The chime is about 14" long.  It is coated with urethane and has a smooth surface.
Our bamboo charcoal is imported from Fukushima, Japan. The company "Miyabi" was founded by Mr. Yoshida over 20 years ago.
He is one of the very first Japanese who started bamboo charcoal business in Japan.
He cuts "Moso" bamboo trees in mountains which is 3 - 5 years old and one hour away from his company.  Then he fires and makes bamboo crafts all by himself.
He made his first bamboo kiln in 1986 and owns total of seven kilns now.  It takes about a week to ten days to fire bamboo to charcoal in a kiln. The last process called "Nerashi" requires one hour work every 4-5 hours, often makes it an overnight process for Mr. Yoshida.  Every bamboo and kiln are different and the outcome is affected by outside temperature and humidity.
Bamboo shrinks to one fourth after it becomes charcoal and many come out broken or become ashes. Only very few and selective charcoal can be used for charcoal crafts.
Benefits of bamboo charcoal are to purify water and eliminate smells and humidity. Bundle them and set it in your car, bathroom or closet. Or use them as a decorative piece in your kitchen or living room.
