Vintage composition Effanbee Dewees Cochran Anne Shirley American Children Doll

DESCRIPTION:
This listing is for vintage Effanbee Doll designed by Dewees Cochran 1936 to 1939 being of the "American Children" Dolls who needs some Tender Loving Care. Dolls were introduced in Life Magazine and available at "Sak's Fifth Avenue" and "Schwarz" stores.  This doll is "unmarked" on the back of head or it is worn off, Effanbee Anne Shirley is incised on the upper back.  My reference tells me the open mouth dolls were not all marked on the back of their heads like this one and the closed mouth dolls were marked American Children, this unmarked doll may be "Barbara Lou", you decide. She measures 17" tall being all composition, strung , jointed at the neck, shoulders and legs with all fingers intact. The fingers are separated and detailed with accent lines and the nails painted, this is how she was made. Body shows overall wear, scuffs, paint loss, some staining or built in dirt, line crazing, you may wish a little restoration to your liking.  A "sweet" little face with open and close "crazed and crackled" sleepy eyes that work fine, she retains her upper hair eye lashes, she has brown eye brows, open mouth with upper teeth. Crazing lines throughout her face, I do not see any serious cracks on her head around the wig areas but I do see old glue residue from this wig or another wig. Her dark blonde human hair wig is "messy" and needs some attention. Doll wears a charming vintage dress with white apron that snaps down the back, there is a white slip, she is missing undies, stockings and shoes.  Enjoy this "seldom seen" doll as she is
