This vintage wooden Del Monte Prune crate measures about 7.6 x 6 x 15.5 inches and weighs about 2 lbs. 12 oz. There is printing on all four sides. Calpack Fruits/From the Land of Sunshine/ Reg. US Pat. Off; Grown and Packaged California, USA/20-30 Inclusive; Calpack Fruits/From the Land of Sunshine/ Reg. US Pat Off; 25 lbs. Net Wt, Del Monte Brand Prunes, Santa Clara, Packed by California Packing Corporation, Main Office - San Francisco, Cal. This packing house was created in 1916. In 1917 they began a campaign to advertise the Del Monte products they packed. Del Monte brand began in 1886 with a coffee product. The Calpack name was used until 1967 when it was changed to Del Monte Corp. Box shows signs of wear consistent with age and use- markings, stains, cracks, roughness, visible nails on inside, nicks, splits, holes, etc. Some of the writing is fading - especially on the Del Monte side.
